5.1. Highlight, underline, and strikethrough text

PDF Expert 7 lets you highlight, underline, and strikethrough PDF texts with different colors. This is a great way to interact with a document actively and emphasize its key points.

Note: You can highlight or underline text only in PDFs with text layers. For scanned PDFs, please use the Marker or Pen tools to highlight or underline text.

How to highlight PDF text:

  1. Open a document
  2. Tap Annotate on the toolbar.
  3. Select the Highlight , Underline , or Strikeout tool. You can select the color for each tool by tapping the color picker .



  4. Select the text to annotate it.
  5. To remove the annotation, long tap the text and select Clear in a pop-up menu.

Note: When any annotation tool is active, use the two-finger scrolling to navigate the document.

Tip: If you frequently use a particular annotation tool, add it to Favorites to work even faster. Learn how to create your own toolset.

There is an alternative way to mark up text in PDFs:

  1. Tap and hold on the text you want to annotate.
  2. In a pop-up menu, select Highlight, Underline, or Strikeout. Note: On iPhone, use the arrows to find the needed option.
  3. To change the color, tap the annotated text and select Color in a pop-up menu.
  4. To remove an annotation, tap Clear in a pop-up menu.

Note: To undo the changes, tap on the toolbar. If you need to redo your edits, tap and hold and select Redo.

How to customize annotation colors:

  1. Select Annotate on the toolbar.
  2. Choose the needed annotation tool and tap its color.
  3. Tap the color wheel on the right.
  4. Tap the color preset you'd like to modify and pick up the color you wish. You can repeat these actions for each of five presets.
  5. To return to the default color pallet, tap Restore.
  6. You can also pick colors from the currently opened document. For this, tap the eyedropper tool.
  7. Drag the eyedropper over the color you want to use. Once you've picked the desired color, tap Done. This color appears in your pallet.
