4.8. Read PDF text out loud

PDF Expert 7 for iPad supports the Text to Speech feature to read the text in PDF files aloud.
How to read PDF text out loud:

  1. Open any PDF file.
  2. Tap the at the top right.
  3. Enable the Text to Speech toggle. The player controls will appear at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Tap the Settings icon on the player controls to select a language or change the speaking pace.
  1. Use the player controls to start reading the current page aloud or move to the next or previous page.

  2. To start reading from a particular word or phrase, select it and tap Read from here in a pop-up menu.


  1. To select another chapter in the document, tap .

Note: The Text to Speech feature is currently available only for iPad.   

Here is the workaround for reading PDF text out loud on iPhone:

  1. Open the iOS Settings app.
  2. Go to General > Accessibility > Speech.
  3. Enable the Speak Selection toggle.
  4. Open a document in PDF Expert 7.
  5. Tap Edit PDF at the top.
  6. Activate the Text tool.
  7. Select the text and tap the arrow button on a pop-up menu.
  8. Tap Speak.
